Aventurine is a form of chalcedony quartz. It has tiny inclusions of mica, or sometimes hematite, which give it a shimmering or glistening effect called ‘aventurescence’. It is well known for its beautiful green colour, but it also comes in shades of blue, brown, grey, orange & red.
Aventurine gets its name from the Italian ‘a ventura’, meaning ‘by chance’.
