Septarian Nodules are sometimes referred to as Dragon's Eggs and it's easy to see why. The definition and contrasting cracks, called 'septoria', are striking. You will receive both halves (a matching pair) of the Septarian Nodule pictured.
The Cretaceous period is when Septarian Nodules formed, which is between 50 and 70 million years ago. This is around the same time the dinosaurs became extinct. Septarian has three more common colours - brown (aragonite), yellow (calcite) and grey (limestone). The name Septarian comes from the Latin word 'septum', meaning 'partition'.
